A Memory Box can be really beneficial in prompting and supporting memories and communication in a person with dementia. As part of Dementia Awareness week, our local Dementia Champion will be here at the Library on Friday 19 May 10:00 am – 12:00 pm to demonstrate how to create a memory Box for a person with dementia. Please feel free to come along!
Our Somerset Dementia Collection may also be helpful. It includes a wide range of books ranging from information, support & advice for carers, personal stories, picture books suitable for people with dementia and books to help children understand when someone they know the has the condition.
We also have free Ancestry sessions every Friday (10:15 – 11:15 am) – reminiscing and life history work can be a powerful way of communication with a person with early dementia .
